Legislative

Shelly Short
(Prefers Republican Party)

Elected Experience: First elected to the legislature in 2008, rising to the position of Caucus Chair. I was appointed to the State Senate in 2017 and overwhelmingly won the 2017 special election. I continue to be a leader in fighting against unnecessary and burdensome agency rules and regulations that undermine individual rights and our economic prosperity.

Other Professional Experience: I ran local district offices for two Congressional members, was Legislative Assistant to Representative Joel Kretz and a paralegal for 10 years.

Education: Legislative Energy Horizon Institute's Energy Policy Planning Program; Spokane Community College; Eastern Washington University.

Community Service: Past 4-H leader.

Statement: Experience we can trust. For 24 years, I have worked hard for folks in the Seventh District. Thank you for entrusting me to represent you for the past ten years. I am incredibly honored.

My focus has been, and will continue to be, to fight for our conservative values, our liberties, our way of life and to stand against government’s appetite for endless taxes and unchecked spending. I will continue to battle state government when it stands in the way of our prosperity and the prosperity of our children! People matter, our families matter, our small businesses and communities matter.

There is no greater priority to me than promoting local jobs, getting folks back to work and protecting the foundation of the 7th District - from managing our natural resources and wildlife to local healthcare, from student centered education to access to water. I’ve built relationships, educated legislators and challenged the status quo in order to be a more effective leader for the 7th District.

As your Senator, I will continue to use my experience to fight for you. I would be honored to have your support and I ask for your vote!
